WESTCAN REVIEWS TAS COPPER PROPERTY
Thursday, February 16th, 2012

WestCan Uranium Corp. has been reviewing historical work on the recently acquired TAS Copper property, strategically located on the eastern claim boundary of the currently producing Copper Mountain Mine, located 17 kilometres south of the Town of Princeton, in the Similkameen Mining Division of southern British Columbia. Management, in consultation with Grant F. Crooker, P.Geo., (the optioner of the claim), has planned an ambitious exploration program on the property which will include comprehensive geophysical surveys, followed by diamond drilling.

The Copper Mountain Mine is 75% owned by the Copper Mountain Mining Corporation and 25% owned by Mitsubishi Minerals Corporation. The Copper Mountain Mine began production in September of 2011 with a design capacity of 35,000 tonnes of ore per day and a resource of approximately 5 billion pounds of copper. Copper Mountain Mining Corporation recently gave an outlook for 2012 and forecast production of approximately 85 to 90 million pounds of copper, 25,000 to 30,000 ounces of gold, and 580,00 to 600,000 ounces of silver at a total cash cost between $ 1.77-$ 1.82 per pound of copper net of precious metal credits. The average ore grade for 2012 is anticipated to be approximately 0.35% copper.

The Copper Mountain Mine “Super Pit” is located approximately 2500 metres north-west of the TAS property, and the Oriole and Rifle zones are located 1200 metres north-west and 500 metres west of the TAS property respectively. In 2010, Copper Mountain Mining Corporation completed shallow drill programs on the Oriole and Rifle zones. Drilling at the Oriole zone returned intercepts ranging from 7.5 to 63.0 metres grading 0.28% to 1.69% copper and 1.79 to 7.72 grams per tonne silver. At the Rifle zone, 4 holes drilled on the margin of an Induced Polarization chargeability anomaly returned intercepts ranging from 15.0 to 24.0 metres grading 0.27% to 0.35% copper and 1.20 to 1.49 grams per tonne silver. Copper Mountain Mining Corporation has announced it will begin mining of the higher grade Oriole zone upon receipt of a mining permit.

The TAS property encompasses approximately 1,300 hectares and the area has been extensively logged, giving good access to all areas of the claim. During the period 1991 through 2011 a grid was established over most of the claim area and soil geochemical sampling, prospecting, geological mapping, magnetic, electromagnetic and 2D-Titan 24 (Induced Polarization) geophysical surveying, trenching and core drilling were carried out. These work programs carried out for another company by Mr. Crooker, outlined a number of copper and zinc soil chemical anomalies, 2D-Titan 24 chargeability anomalies and copper showings. The most significant copper showings are at the TAS South, TAS Central and the TAS North prospects.

The TAS south prospect covers an area approximately 900 metres long by 800 metres wide. Trenching carried out at the TAS South prospect (Cliff and Road showings) gave grades averaging 0.199% copper and 2.2 grams per tonne silver, with higher grades of 0.803% copper and 11.3 grams per tonne silver from 45 channel samples. Three 50-metre long drill holes tested the Cliff showing with drill hole 21004 giving the most significant grades of copper mineralization. The drill hole intersected 19 metres grading 0.195% copper and 2.7 grams per tonne silver, including 4 metres grading 0.30% copper and 2.6 grams per tonne silver and 3 metres grading 0.39% copper and 5.6 grams per tonne silver. One 50-metre long drill hole at the Road showing (100 metres south-west of Cliff showing) intersected 14 metres grading 0.21% copper and 2.1 grams per tonne silver, including 4 metres averaging 0.31% copper and 2.4 grams per tonne silver.

The TAS Central prospect covers an area 1000 metres long by 800 metres wide and consists of a very strong magnetic high and a broad copper soil geochemical anomaly flanked by a zinc soil geochemical anomaly to the east. A grab sample taken from the showing gave 1855 ppm copper, 2.0 ppm silver and 126 ppm zinc. The Central prospect has not had Induced Polarization surveying, trenching or drilling carried out on or near it.

The TAS North prospect covers an area approximately 700 metres long by 500 metres wide. Trenching gave grades averaging 0.102% copper and 1.5 grams per tonne silver, with higher grades of 0.269% copper and 3.0 grams per tonne silver from 45 channel samples. One high propriety 2D-Titan 24 chargeability anomaly is associated with the copper mineralization at the North prospect and no drilling has been carried out near the prospect.

Mr. Crooker has proposed a two phased exploration program on the TAS property. The first phase will consist of approximately 30 kilometres of 3D-Induced Polarization survey (3D-IP) over the 60% of the property not covered by the May 2009, 2D-Titan-24 (2D-IP) survey, as well as fill-in lines between the previous 2D-IP survey. The 3D-IP survey data provides accurate subsurface coverage in a true three-dimensional geophysical frame, as opposed to the conventional two-dimensional survey data (2D-IP).

The second phase will consist of a 1500 metre core drilling program to test the 3D-IP drill targets, as well as the copper showings at the North, Central and South prospects.
